Work-Study Program (Alternance)
What Is Alternance?
Alternance is a unique French educational model that blends academic learning with hands-on work experience in a company. It allows students to earn while they learn—developing both their diploma and their career simultaneously. At Stellum International, this opportunity is available to both undergraduate and postgraduate students through two study options: the initial track (formation initiale) and the alternance track (apprenticeship).
We are committed to making high-quality education accessible to all. For those choosing the full-time initial study option, our tuition fees are structured to remain affordable and competitive. For students opting for alternance, Stellum International stands out as the only business school in Europe offering a free education pathway that combines professional work experience with a British degree—completely tuition-free.
Alternance in France is built on two main types of contracts: the Contrat d’Apprentissage and the Contrat de Professionnalisation. Both allow students to combine academic learning with valuable work experience, but they cater to slightly different needs.
The Contrat d’Apprentissage is ideal for students between the ages of 16 and 29. It is designed to lead to a nationally recognized diploma or title, such as a BTS, Licence, or Master’s degree. This contract typically lasts between six months and three years, depending on the program. One major advantage is that tuition fees are often fully covered by the employer, and students receive a monthly salary, which varies according to their age and level of study.
The Contrat de Professionnalisation, or Professionalization Contract, is intended for young people aged 16 to 25 as well as job seekers aged 26 and above. It focuses on developing practical, job-ready skills and often leads to a professional qualification or certificate. Typically lasting between 6 to 12 months (and renewable), this contract is designed to facilitate a quicker and smoother transition into the job market. Professionalism includes traits like punctuality, respect, responsibility, and communication. It means being organized, taking initiative, and handling tasks with integrity. It also involves dressing appropriately, managing your time well, and maintaining a positive and collaborative attitude. In essence, professionalism reflects your readiness to become a valued team member—not just a student or intern.
